The Chapel of Saint Bartholomew, on a sandstone promontory, offers privileged views of Somontano, its cereal fields, and the Alcanadre River. Dating from the 13th to 17th centuries, it preserves its Romanesque portal with two semicircular archivolts.

Next to the chapel, there are some sun loungers for relaxed sky observation. From here, we can learn about the demon star Algol, an astronomical surprise that fascinated the Egyptians and symbolizes bad luck.

The “Demon Star” Algol in the Perseus constellation is one of the easiest variable stars for new observers. Its brightness fades noticeably for about 10 hours every 2 days, 20 hours, and 49 minutes. This happens because a dimmer star passes in front of the brighter one. Once the eclipse begins, the star steadily dims for five hours and then brightens again during the next five hours until the eclipse ends.

This space is equipped with the following infrastructure to make observation more comfortable:

  • 7 loungers
  • 4 informational panels about the spring, summer, autumn and winter skies
