 Route description

This fascinating wine and cycle tourism route follows sections of the Barbastro-Monzón greenway, which runs along the former railway track that once connected Monzón with Barbastro and Selgua.

The route begins at the start of the greenway, heading south and passing close to Batán de Salas, the first winery that can be visited along the way. Returning to the greenway, a gentle ascent begins from the valley floor, crossed by the Vero river, leading to a spectacular 40-meter wooden footbridge that spans the N-240 road. From this point, the striking, avant-garde building of the Sommos winery is visible, the second winery on the route.

After this, and with extra caution, the national road is crossed to visit Laus winery, located just opposite. Once this beautiful winery has been explored, the route continues along agricultural tracks through vineyards, reaching Meler winery, another suggested stop.

From there, the route leads to the A-1226 road and the unique litonero enebro tree of Algarrofales, where a litonero sprouted more than 70 years ago inside a common juniper (chinebro). After a short stretch along the road, the route reaches the final winery, El Grillo y la Luna, from which a gentle descent returns cyclists to the starting point.
