Follow this suggested itinerary and discover Somontano is just 3 days.

Day 1: Discover the capital city of Barbastro through visits to the Somontano Visitor Centre, the Wine Zone, the cathedral, the San Francisco complex and the ice house. A visit to a winery within the D.O. Somontano, with tour and wine tasting included, is the perfect way to round off the day.

Day 2: Visit to the medieval village of Alquézar with its castle, collegiate church, Museum of Sacred Art and the Casa Fabian museum. Once here you cannot leave without following the spectacular Footbridges route that drops down to follow the last stretch of the River Vero.

Day 3: Visit the Cave Art Visitor Centre the rock paintings of Mallata in Colungo (declared a World Heritage Site) and the old olive oil mill in Buera.

The first weekend option takes in two of the main attractions; art and wine.

The first day is spent discovering the capital city of Barbastro; the San Julian complex, the cathedral and the ice house. And what better way to round off the day than with a visit to a winery within the D.O. Somontano, with tour and wine tasting included.

The second day incorporates a visit to the medieval village of Alquézar; castle, collegiate church, Museum of Sacred Art and the spectacular Footbridges walk that drops down to the River Vero. To finish, visit the olive oil mill, the Dulcis shrine and the olive grove in the nearby village of Buera. 

This weekend takes visitors on a journey through pre-historic times. On the first day head towards the Colungo, with its Cave Art Visitor Centre and rock paintings in the shelters of Mallata, Lecina and Barfaluy.

The following day is spent at the heart of the Sierra de Guara National Park. In Bierge pay a visit to the Guara Visitor Centre, the medieval paintings of San Fructoso chapel and a typical olive oil mill. Finish off the day with a walk along the banks of the Alcanadre river from the Pedruel bridge to the Trinidad shrine.

This option takes you to the east and south of the region.

The first day takes in visits to the pottery and salt flats of Naval, the Torreciudad shrine and a winery belonging to the D.O. Somontano.

Day two packs in visits to the Spring Well Visitor Centre of Laluenga, the Spring well in Laperduguera, the chapel of Santa Agueda of Berbegal, the church of Santa María en Peralta de Alcofea and the archaeological site of La Torraza and church of Nuestra Señora, both in El Tormillo.
