The Astronomical Association of Huesca and its local group Astrosomontano organise different sessions of astronomical observation stargazing in the towns of Somontano. In fact, in the region, there are three spaces available for stargazing in the following locations: Almunias de Rodellar, Cregenzán and Torres de Alcanadre.

Nature Explorers

Since I was little, my parents have shown me amazing places. At first I thought I'd get tired, but that never happened.
Many places can be reached by car, but the best thing is to walk or ride a bike. That way it's easier to see the birds, to look out for animal tracks and feathers, and to smell the plants.
Have you prepared your backpack yet? Don't forget a sandwich and some chocolate. Oh... and your binoculars!
Throughout Guara Somontano there are surprising landscapes and hidden spots that are waiting for you to discover them. It does not matter if it is summer or winter; any time of the year is the right time to enjoy its incredible nature.
We recommend you relax with no clock in your house, that you put on your boots and you pack your rucksack with excitement to discover new places and experience great moments in the mountains, the rivers, the forests and the plains.
Many people think that exploring is the work of intrepid travellers who go far away to distant lands. That’s nonsense, since each and every one of us has an explorer within, and here in Guara Somontano we will introduce you to yours.
The Natural Park of the Sierra and Canyons of Guara is a protected area that offers a multitude of possibilities for observing nature. It doesn't matter where you start, because all options are good.
The banks of the main rivers have signposted paths that help visitors get to know the forests and reach viewpoints from which observing the fauna is easier.
Guara Somontano is also a paradise for bird lovers. Whether with the naked eye or through binoculars, you are sure to enjoy witnessing the flight of birds of prey and many other species, some as rare as the bearded vulture.
We recommend you go out in the countryside at night and contemplate the starry sky. In fact, the northern half has one of the darkest and clearest skies in the whole of Aragon, thanks to its low levels of light pollution.
The nature of Guara Somontano can be discovered freely or on guided tours, but there’s no doubt that one of the best ways is on foot and without rushing, going on simple excursions thanks to the network of trails, which are perfectly marked out and well equipped.
Since respecting and conserving nature is everyone's task, we encourage you to follow some very simple advice which will help us to leave no trace on the environment. Help us achieve a sustainable Somontano!
