The parish church of El Salvador was built in late Gothic style next to the castle in the 16th century. An elegant gallery of brick arches, typically Aragonese in style, finishes off the building beautifully and creates an airy display of light and shade in the open and closed spaces.

On the outside, the buttresses enhance the geometric shapes and harmonious proportions of the building, created by a nave with a polygonal east end and four chapels. On the inside, delicate ribs spread elegantly to cover the nave’s stellar vault.

In the past, the porch area was a place for the council to meet with townsfolk to deal with important village matters. The simple Renaissance doorway has been witness to the signing of many documents that made local history.

The church houses a beautiful Renaissance cross used for processions, which was made by the silversmith Gerónimo Mata in 1562.
