Distinctive rock and geological formations, together with the effects of erosion, have created unique and magical cliffs in Somontano.They conceal secrets such as pre-historic cave paintings, diverse colonies of birds and indigenous rupicolous plants, which all exist in perfect harmony with the rock-climbers, canyoners and hikers that come to explore these singular structures and to discover the hidden beauty spots of the region. 

Somontano is the perfect place to enjoy rock climbing as well as the lesser known sport of via ferrata climbing; both of which will delight those with a head for heights and climbing enthusiasts with a love for the tactile feel of natural rock.
